welcome to africa! January 26, 2007

So after a few too many hours sitting in airplanes and wandering around airports, I am here in South Africa! I flew in this morning to Cape Town and have now been in the beautiful country for just around 12 hours. I got to say hi to a few of the school kids who live here at the base. They were so funny! They were waving and dancing and just being silly to make us laugh! I’ve also gotten the opportunity to meet most of the other people here for the school. So far all but about five or so people are already here and we are having a blast! We have people from the USA, Australia, Finland, Holland, the UK, and Canada in the school (maybe some others I can’t seem to remember at the moment)! One of my roommates is from Finland, another is from Holland and the other two are from the USA. So that is going to be fun and a bit of challenge I am sure getting to know them better as the days and months go on.  So far one of my highlights is that we have a ping pong table at the base! Okay, maybe it isn’t a “real” ping pong table but only a slightly too small table with a net attached, but I love it!
